Empire State Of Mind
Hi Queen,
As we welcome the month of May I can't believe how fast this year has been flying by! So much has happened in my life and God continues to take me places I used to dream of. Last month I had the opportunity to fly to New York City (NYC), and this is something I had been praying for since I was a child. However, the inflation hitting the country changed my plans and my budget. So I had to pause my dreams and get back to work since I recently moved into the cutest apartment in Huntsville, Alabama.
It all started when I was sitting on my couch one Friday night and I was actually in tears about not living my dreams. Crying out to God and asking “What did I not do”?, when almost immediately I received an email from a brand strategist at Weight Watchers (WW). She asked if I would be available for a photoshoot in NYC. My jaw instantly hit the floor, because God delivered something just that quickly to me and mentally it felt like the devil was dragging me by my edges, He did not forget about me. God stepped in a declared checkmate on him just that fast. It amazes me how often I find myself looking for my next come-up, the chance to shine and check something off my goal list that I often forget how good He has been to me. There are times that I have to pause and be mindful of the stillness that God is my source. Every opportunity that I have been given to share my story was carefully crafted by God and given to me.
“It amazes me how often I find myself looking for my next come-up, the chance to shine and check something off my goal list that I often forget how good He has been to me. ”
So I took my solo trip to NYC and was met with a driver who dropped me off at a hotel in Manhattan (The Dream) only a block away from the photoshoot and WW carnival. As soon as I checked into my room had to check out the neighborhood, grab some coffee from the Starbucks Roastery and do some shopping. My first stop was the Gucci store (yes they do follow you around) and a few street vendors to bring back some souvenirs for my family. At the carnival, I had a lot of fun and finally got the chance to meet my WW Coach Monika, it was more like meeting a long-distance relative because she has been my coach on the program for the last 3 years and she was just as magnetic in person as she is virtually. The WW Carnival held a VIP night for some well-known influencers, though I’d taken a step back from content creation, God put me in that room for a reason and I connected with a ton of like-minded individuals with who I can learn a lot from: writers, bloggers, TikTok creators, and WW ambassadors. The next day was my photoshoot and my call time was super early, but I showed up and showed out on set( I have a BA in Theater)! We had so much fun on set, in between takes Monika and I were doing the Beyonce shuffle with a few other guys, and I learned more about the team I was working with.
After the shoot I spent the rest of the day with Monika, we ate pizza ( Chicago still reigns supreme) visited the Empire State Building, toured WW’s corporate office, and visited Times Square. My heart was so full after taking all of this in and seeing just how quickly God can restore everything to you. No matter the situation or circumstances He knows the plans that we have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Even if I did not have this experience I realized that you have to grow and be grateful for the things you have right now and do your best. All things are working for your good.
