Put That Woman First

Hi Queen,

I write this letter to you with deep admiration and love, as we deserve the utmost recognition for the beauty, strength, and wisdom we carry within us. There is an undeniable magic in who we are, a light that shines from within, lighting the paths of those lucky enough to witness it. Our resilience, grace, and intelligence are unmatched, and it’s time we truly see and honor. I know the feeling of disappointment and the eye rolls have been severe, especially the last 30 days, but I want to take a moment to share that we are black women, one of God’s most precious works.

As Jesse Williams once said so eloquently “Just because we're magic, doesn't mean that we're not real”. We have endured so much, often carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders and too often, burdens that we did not ask for. But the time has come for us to put ourselves first—our joy, our peace, our well-being. Too often, the demands and expectations of others can cloud our vision, and we end up giving so much of ourselves, while our own heart and soul yearn for our much needed attention. We deserve to walk with pride in our own skin, to flourish in our own essence, and to prioritize our own growth.

Just because we’re magic, doesn’t mean we’re not real.
— Jesse Williams

The hope we felt in our hearts does not have to disappear just because of the outcome of an election, or economic changes. The power is in us  and if it's in you, no one can take that away from you. Do not settle for anything or anyone who fails to uplift and honor the incredible woman you are. It’s time to let go of the things that do not serve you—whether they be situations, people, or past patterns that no longer nourish your spirit. Walking away from what no longer aligns with your vision for a full and abundant life is an act of self-love, respect and a power move. Remember, you are worthy of peace, of joy, and of the space to evolve into the best version of yourself.

We have so much to offer, but we must first offer that love and compassion to ourselves. Hold your boundaries as sacred, and don’t feel guilty for protecting your peace. Let go of the fear of being labeled selfish or demanding. Advocate for yourself as hard as you will for someone else. You are not selfish for choosing yourself. You are not demanding when you ask for the respect you deserve.

It is your time, Queen.I want us to put that power back into our own lives and create that version of you that you often suppress. Rather if it's out of fear of being seen like me, or waiting for the so-called  right moment. We only have right now and tomorrow is not promised to anyone.  It’s your time to blossom unapologetically, to heal, and to prioritize the things that elevate you. It’s time to surround yourself with those who see you as the royalty you are and are worthy of sharing in your love, joy, and dreams.
