Year of Yes
I spent the majority of 2021 thinking about my past! Replaying scenarios in my head, analyzed things I could have said or done differently, and the endeavors I missed out on because I was too afraid to step out of my comfort zone. And do you know where that led me? Nowhere, it only stirred up feelings of sadness, regret, and grief for both things and people that are no longer in my life. Obsessing over your past does nothing, but prevent you from serving your future.
There is a quote in the book “Year of Yes” by Shonda Rhimes that reads“ Ditch the dream and be a doer, not a dreamer”. I loved this mantra because it reminds me that worrying about my past and things that no longer serve me is a complete waste of time. All we have is right now, now is the time to go after the desires of your heart and say “yes” to things that scare you.
Before I turned 30 I made a promise to myself to say“ yes” to living a healthier lifestyle which included losing 30lbs by my birthday. We do not have to lose weight to feel beautiful, the truth is that once we accept ourselves fully, it is in that moment that we are beautiful. I said “yes” to loving myself more and today I have lost a total of 40lbs and made a career change by stepping out on faith.
“This is my year to say “ yes” to using my voice to speak up, take control of my health, establish boundaries and welcome new relationships””
In the year 2022, I want you to promise yourself that you will no longer look back at your past, instead of dreaming about the life you want, take action to go out and create it. This is my year to say “yes” to using my voice to speak up, take control of my health, establish boundaries, and welcome new relationships.
What will you say “yes” to this year?
